Three Common Causes of HVAC Emergency Home Repairs
Like the weather, sometimes system failures hit you with a perfect storm, right out of the blue. System failures happen, but you can avoid many emergency situations by eliminating these three common causes.
- No preventative maintenance
- Inexperienced or unqualified service technicians
- An aging system in need of replacement
Poor maintenance is the number one cause of emergency service calls. Some maintenance you can do yourself is outlined in your owner’s manual — things like regularly changing filters, for example. Other maintenance, like cleaning, testing, and adjusting system components call for professional servicing. With preventative maintenance, your heating and cooling equipment is always at peak efficiency, making it reliable and safe to operate.
Emergency service can be provided in our Residential Maintenance Program and in one of our custom Commercial Maintenance Programs.
Working with a Professional Team
Inexperienced or unqualified technicians can be less expensive to hire, but they can be the cause of inconvenient, costly and possibly dangerous emergency repairs. Professional technicians have the right combination of up-to-date knowledge, proper gear and an expert’s understanding to diagnose and repair your HVAC systems.
When your heating and cooling equipment is old, it’s going to fail sooner or later. If you keep paying for repairs and have the phone number for emergency service calls on speed dial, perhaps it’s time to replace your system. We can help with that, too.

FAQs
SHOULD I REPAIR OR REPLACE MY FURNACE?
When your furnace starts to act up, you will likely need a repair. However, sometimes the repair costs the same amount as a replacement, so replacing the furnace may be a better option. Our experienced heating specialists can evaluate your furnace to determine what’s wrong and what needs to be repaired. If they think a replacement might be more cost-effective, they’ll let you know.
HOW CAN I PREVENT SMALL REPAIRS FROM BECOMING BIG REPAIRS?
Staying on top of maintenance and repairs can extend the lifespan of your furnace. If you have a furnace that always needs repairs, our heating specialists can evaluate the problem to see if it’s an indicator of a larger issue. Also, regular maintenance will keep your furnace clean and efficient and may prevent repairs from being needed at all!
HOW DO I KNOW MY FURNACE NEEDS REPAIRING?
One of the most prominent signs your furnace needs repairing is when it’s not giving you the warm air you need. If your furnace isn’t blowing warm air, you may need to repair or replace your air filters, circuit breaker, heating unit, or thermostat. Loud noises like whistling, rattling, banging, and squeaking are abnormal and should be addressed. If your system is frequently cycling on and off on its own, you could have an airflow problem. On the other hand, if your system is continuously running, your unit may not be running as efficiently as it could be.
